1886 Benz Patent Motorwagen replica
Karl Benz applied for a patent for this vehicle (the first with an internal combustion engine) on January 29, 1886. It had a horizontal single cylinder, four-stroke 954cc engine developing 0.75 HP at 400 rpm. It weighs 584 pounds and achieved 24 mpg. The one and only original can be found at the German Museum in Münich, Germany. This replica sold for $37,950 on April, 4th, 2013 at the Barrett-Jackson West Palm Beach auction.
