Second Alarm House Fire Forces Firefighter Escape Through Window in Lower Allen Township

Fire units were dispatched to the 1600 block of Cressman Circle in Lower Allen Township, Cumberland County, for a reported house fire with multiple callers reporting the incident to 911. York County Chief 68 arrived on scene to find heavy fire conditions and requested a tanker task force. Due to the intensity of the fire, a second alarm was requested shortly after. Firefighters began operations but were later evacuated from the structure as conditions rapidly deteriorated. During the evacuation, one firefighter was forced to egress through a window. Due to the lack of hydrants in the area, water had to be brought in by tankers, creating temporary water supply issues that contributed to the evacuation.
