Building The Lightest & Thinnest VH31 Quartz Watch Possible

For today's build there was one goal, build the thinnest and lights Oyster Perpetual Style watch possible. To accomplish this I used a newly released case that came in at 36 mm in diameter and just under 10mm thick. In addition to the thinnest of the case it was also constructed out of titanium which greatly reduced the weight while maintaining the strength needed. To cut down on weight even further the client and I discussed the possibility of using a VH31 quartz movement. The only issue being the case was made to support the NH35 movement. To navigate this a 3d printed movement holder was used to support the movement in the case. The chosen dial while compatible with the case was not compatible with the movement meaning it had to be modified as well. The baton style hands used in this build were compatible with the movement however they lacked the same BGW9 lume featured in the dial leading me to re lume them. In fact the only thing that wasn't involved in some kind of modification was the strap which in this build was a off brown crocodile leather strap with a classic buckle and tang. Though nearly every part of the build needed to be changed to work together I feel we accomplished the original goal. The finished watch ended up coming in at 9.96mm thick and weighed just over 33 grams when fully assembled. At times you could forget it was even on wrist. Overall this build offered a great challenge and it was nice to finally feature a quartz watch on the channel. Hope you enjoy.
