The Most Disappointing £14.50 Lunch In Stockport

In today's food review, I visited Woodford Garden Centre in Woodford, Stockport, and decided to try something a little different from my usual breakfast reviews – the Ploughman's Lunch. Priced at £14.50, I was expecting a generous and premium-quality meal. In the past, I've had Ploughman's lunches in pubs that were significantly larger, so I was interested to see how this one compared. The food arrived quickly, which was a positive start, but the meal itself was a mixed experience. The mature cheddar was tasty, and the sausage roll was probably the standout item on the plate. However, much of the rest of the meal felt fairly basic. The grapes, coleslaw, relish and other accompaniments reminded me of standard supermarket products rather than something you'd expect from a £14.50 lunch. The brie was particularly disappointing, being very thinly sliced and lacking much flavour. The sourdough bread was also extremely dry. One of the biggest negatives for me was the salad, which covered a large portion of the plate and came coated in a dressing that I personally didn't enjoy. We also ordered sides of chips and onion rings. The chips were reasonable, although the portion felt quite small for £4. The onion rings were more disappointing, with very little batter and not much flavour, despite being crispy. Overall, I left feeling that the meal didn't offer the premium experience I expected for the price. While there were a couple of good elements, I struggled to see the value when compared with what could be bought elsewhere for significantly less money.
