🇬🇧 The Song of Pomerania (Pommernlied) is based on a melody composed around 1818 by Karl August Groos from Westphalia. The lyrics were written by Adolf Reinhard Pompe, a theologian born in Stettin: When dreams surround me in quiet hours, unseen spirits bring glad tidings, telling me of the land of my homeland, bright sea shores, dark forests. White sails fly on the blue sea, white seagulls sway in blue heights, blue forests crown white dunes of sand; Pomerania, my longing is turned toward you! From afar, my thoughts turn to you, from afar, they send you familiar greetings; carry, gentle winds, my greetings and song, blow softly and gently, the sound of faithful love! You are the only one in the whole world, you are mine, I am yours, faithfully united with you; of all I have ever seen, you alone please me, Pomerania, so beautiful! Now I am wandering, soon here, soon there, but all others drive me away: Until I find my peace again in you, I send my songs to you, O homeland!
