Toxic waste arises here! - Toxicity Rising

The Willow Brook north runs under the entire length of what was Corby Steelworks. Over the last hundred years this waterway has suffered severe contamination from the heavy metals that would have leaked out from the works. Once the waterway finally reaches daylight, the polluted water would then go through a set of filter beds in Weldon. The sludge collected from these filter beds is the sludge we can find up at the containment cells up on Napier Road (Same site as Rockingham Speedway). When Earthwatch Europe conducted their tests here last winter this filtration area and Rockingham speedway were highlighted as contamination hotspots. Best I head down and obtain our own water samples and conduct a few water tests. The Toxicity Rising series will help bring you up to speed with where, why and how.
