No problem!! The Level 1 is designed for everybody and you don’t need to have any musical background… You just need to practice and you can progress at your own pace. In Level 1, we are going to use the basic syllables of the drum : The Tom, the me, the Bak and the ke. Using the language of the drum, all the rhythms are first recited vocally and then played on the drum. There are more than 500 exercises to help you to improve your sense of rhythm, your dexterity and your concentration. There are 8 chapters, and at the end of each chapter, you will find a final composition, which combines the elements that we learned in the chapter and helpful quizzes! There is a downloadable pdf document of all the exercises and compositions. Almost 5 hours of videos filmed from different angles which will help you to visualize the hand positions. After completing Level 1, you will be able to play many rhythms and compositions on the tombak. And you will have the skill to improvise and play with both confidence and comfort.
