ПАВЕЛ: фарисей, который встретил Христа | Бывший гонитель и первый богослов Нового Завета
The earliest document of the New Testament is not a Gospel. It's a letter. First Epistle to the Thessalonians was written approximately 15-20 years before the Gospel of Mark. Its author is Saul of Tarsus, a man who had recently persecuted Christians, entering homes, dragging people to prison, and traveling to Damascus with letters for their arrest. And then it was he who wrote the words that changed history: "There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female: for you are all one in Christ Jesus." How did the Church's most zealous persecutor become its foremost theologian? In this issue of Bible Club, we explore: — Who was Saul of Tarsus before he met Christ; — Why he persecuted Christians not out of malice, but out of zeal for the Law; — What happened on the road to Damascus; — why the same event is described in the New Testament several times and with different details; — why Paul went to Arabia for three years; — how he reread Abraham, the Law, faith, and the cross; — why his letters were written before the Gospels; — how Paul argued with Peter in Antioch; — the significance of his journeys from Asia Minor to Rome; — and why the Church remembers Peter and Paul together, despite their open conflict. This episode is about a man who straddled three worlds: the Jewish faith, Greek culture, and Roman citizenship. But after meeting Christ, all of this became not a career, not protection, and not a privilege, but an instrument of apostolic mission. Pharisee. Roman citizen. Hellenic man. Persecutor. Apostle. Prisoner. Martyr. And the man whose letters were the first of all the New Testament texts to begin to shape the language of Christian theology. ENGLISH DESCRIPTION: The earliest document of the New Testament is not a Gospel. It is a letter. The First Letter to the Thessalonians was written about 15–20 years before the Gospel of Mark. Its author was Saul of Tarsus - a man who had once persecuted Christians, entered their homes, dragged them to prison, and went to Damascus with official letters of arrest. And yet this same man became the first great theologian of the Church. This episode investigates Paul: a Pharisee, a Roman citizen, a man of Greek culture, a persecutor of the Church, and the apostle whose letters shaped the earliest language of Christian theology. We explore his identity, his persecution of the Church, the Damascus event, the three years in Arabia, his missionary journeys, his letters written before the Gospels, his conflict with Peter in Antioch, and his final road to Rome. A detective story about zeal, revelation, Scripture, mission, and the man who met the risen Christ.
