КАИАФА: первосвященник, который решил убить Христа | Заговор против Бога
Caiaphas is one of the most enigmatic characters of Holy Week. The High Priest. The head of the religious elite. The man who was supposed to stand between God and the people. And it was he who uttered the phrase that became Christ's sentence: "It is better for us that one man die for the people than that the whole nation perish." But who was Caiaphas really? In 1990, a tomb containing an ossuary was discovered in Jerusalem, bearing the name "Joseph, son of Caiaphas." This was likely the tomb of the very same high priest who participated in the trial of Jesus. The script for the episode builds from this discovery—through the ossuary, the power of Annas, temple politics, and the night trial of Christ. In this episode of Bible Club, we examine: - how Herod the Great turned the high priesthood into a political tool; - why Annas continued to rule even after his removal; — how Caiaphas held on to power for nearly nineteen years; — what his phrase, "it is better for one man to die for the people," meant; — why John the Evangelist sees an unintentional prophecy in these words; — what happened at Caiaphas's night trial; — and why a politically logical decision became a theological catastrophe. Caiaphas was neither a madman nor a random individual. He was an experienced administrator, a master of compromise, a man of the system. He thought he was protecting the Temple, the people, and order. But in the end, the high priest, called to serve God, ended up helping to condemn the Son of God. This is a first-century detective story about power, fear, the Temple, Rome, and the price of one decision.
