Stress & Depression | A Nondual Yoga Nidra Exploration
This Yoga Nidra is a gentle exploration of stress, depression, and the deeper field of relaxation that remains present beneath both. Rather than approaching stress or depression as problems to overcome, this practice invites a different relationship — one of curiosity, inclusion, and direct experience. Through somatic awareness, subtle body sensing, and spacious contemplation, contractions of body, mind, and emotion are gradually invited into a larger field of presence. Stress may be experienced as condensed movement. Depression may be experienced as density, gravity, or stillness. Without needing to fix, change, or escape what is here, this practice gently explores the possibility that relaxation is not something we create, but something already present beneath experience itself. This practice may support: • deep nervous system rest • meeting stress with greater ease and curiosity • a softer relationship with heaviness and contraction • somatic and subtle body awareness • emotional spaciousness and self-compassion • nondual contemplative practice through direct experience This is a spacious Yoga Nidra practice exploring the meeting point of contraction and relaxation, movement and stillness, awareness and experience. How to practice: Find a quiet, comfortable, undisturbed place where you can fully rest. Lie down in savasana, on your side, or seated with support behind the body. Use props generously — blankets for warmth, cushions beneath the knees or head, an eye pillow or soft scarf if desired. Allow yourself to be deeply supported. ABOUT YOGA NIDRA Yoga Nidra is often described as “yogic sleep” — a state between waking and dreaming where the body rests deeply while awareness remains gently awake. It is a practice of effortless presence, where nothing needs to be fixed, changed, or achieved.
