Eritreans of Italian descent claim their birthright to citizenship - interview with Vittorio Longhi
Thousands of Eritreans of Italian descent are being denied their birthright to Italian citizenship. They are the grandchildren and great-grandchildren of Italian men sent to Eritrea during Italy's colonisation of East Africa. Mussolini's racial laws meant that Italian fathers could not give their nationality to their mixed-race children. Al Jazeera's Barbara Serra speaks to Italian journalist of Eritrean descent Vittorio Longhi, author of the book 'The Colour of my Name'. Aired on the Al Jazeera Newshour 20 June 2021
