Ever since I completed Xueshan on my own in August, I’ve slowly come to appreciate the charm of one-day hikes. Even though you can’t stay in the mountains for several days, the short itinerary has its perks—your backpack is much lighter, your steps feel easier, the weather forecast is more reliable, the schedule is easier to arrange, and you even get to enjoy a hot shower when you’re back the same day… There are definitely many advantages! With my current pace, there aren’t many mountains I can finish in a single day, and Taoshan is one of them.
