November 1957. A cold gray morning in a small Montana town. Three days later a tall man in a tan Stetson passes the window, sees a fallen soldier's valor medals with a price on them, and stops cold. He buys them back, tracks down the mother, and carries them home to her — and makes sure she never spends another cold morning outside a pawn shop as long as she lives. He wouldn't leave his name. Cora's son's medals hang in a Montana veterans' post to this day.
