It’s part cake, part pudding, and baked in a water bath for that lovely, steamed texture. The golden syrup base turns rich and caramelised in the oven, and it’s finished with a warm drizzle over the top. A little cream or custard on the side never hurts either. I found the recipe in a second-hand cookbook, and it’s so good I haven’t changed much at all.
