Day 8 | Rifugio Fontana to the La Pissa Bus Stop | Alta Via 1

Benvenuti! Welcome! I am spending the next month in Italy hiking the Alta Via 1 and exploring some of the historic cities in this beautiful country. I’m also taking this opportunity to brush up on my Italian! In this video, we enjoy our final views of the Italian Dolomites and say goodbye to the trail. We primarily spent the day going downhill, making our way from Rifugio Pian de Fontana all the way down to the La Pissa bus stop. We waited for the next bus into the neighboring town of Belluno. In Belluno, we reacquainted ourselves with urban life by walking the streets, enjoying some local shops, and entertaining ourselves with whatever the fire brigade was doing at our neighbor’s house. But the nearness of the trail wasn’t soon lost on us as we ran into fellow hikers all around town and fully embraced our hiker hunger. The next morning, we said goodbye to Stefan as he was leaving on an early morning bus. Elissa, Vojta, and I caught our train towards Venice. We said goodbye as they exited at the airport, but I continued on to Venice. And that’s where this part of the adventure ends - the journey of the 5 strangers who took on the Alta Via 1 together. The proof that friends really are just strangers you haven’t met yet. In the next video, Vicky and I reunite in Venice, I have a few days solo, and then I say hello to a special guest who will be joining me for the next 2 weeks in Italy!
