The mysterious “2489 Noodles” is apparently read as “ni-yon-hachi-kyu noodles.” Just like that?! lol They also have a “2489 Don,” but the rice is plain white rice. Apparently, “2” stands for green onions, ‘4’ for ginger, and “89” for grilled meat, so it’s a dish of green onions and meat stir-fried with salt and ginger. The soy sauce fried rice is exactly what you’d expect: fried rice with a rich, savory soy sauce aroma. It feels like it might be based on authentic Chinese cooking methods, but it’s definitely a classic neighborhood Chinese-style fried rice. It’s seasoned with salt and pepper, and the soy sauce flavor envelops the whole dish. The thick soup with beaten egg gives it a slightly more upscale feel. Since the soup itself is delicious, I think salt ramen or tanmen would be popular if they offered them. The gyoza are packed with vegetables. The wrapping style is unique—they’re folded with a large pleat in the center. I definitely want to try the 2489 Donburi.
