Ecija is known by the nickname of the ”city of the towers", because eleven towers, nine belfries and numerous temples, palaces and viewpoints emerge from its hamlet, Ecija constitutes one of the richest monumental complexes in the province. On the border with the province of Córdoba, 88 km from Seville, is located Écija, a rich cereal-growing town bathed by the Genil River. This municipality is popularly known as the City of the Sun, the City of the Towers and the Frying Pan of Andalusia (for its high temperatures, especially during the summer seasons). It is considered one of the most important historical sites in Andalusia.
