Doppelmayr Transport Technology - RPC "Booysendal", South Africa - English (2018)
For the expansion of its Booysendal concession, the South African mining company Booysendal Platinum (Pty) Limited, a subsidiary of Northam Platinum Limited, requires a cost-effective, reliable and safe means of transport to link an existing processing plant with the new prospects at Booysendal south. The terrain between these two areas, however, is rather challenging for the transport of material. In a straight line, a distance of approx. 4.8 km and a difference in elevation of 530m must be covered, while minimising the environmental footprint is another important aspect to be considered. Booysendal Platinum (Pty) Limited opted for a RopeCon® system to tackle the challenge of transporting 909 tons of platinum ore per hour.
