A religiosidade no Ilê Aiyê – Ocupação Ilê Aiyê (2018)
Hildelice dos Santos, daughter of Mãe Hilda Jitolu, talks about the religious process that occurred after her mother's death. Within the rituals that govern the Ilê Axé Jitolu house, Hildelice was appointed as the ialorixá, mother of the saint, who would take care of the axé of the house. She comments on the emotion of making the first Carnival outing without the presence of Mother Hilda. As a cry of resistance against the historical abuses that oppress the freedom and majesty that inhabits each person – in this case, black people –, the 42nd Occupation pays homage to the trajectory of Ilê Aiyê. Testimonies recorded in July 2018, in Salvador/BA. Find out more about the exhibition: https://bit.ly/2RjYpVF.
