Grade 1 Aural Tests - Echo Singing
Listening to three short phrases of music and singing each phrase back as an echo, as accurately as you can. Suitable for candidates preparing for ABRSM Grade 1 practical exams. We give you lots of helpful advice on how best to tackle this part of the grade 1 aural test. Many people are a bit apprehensive about singing. This is not a test of your singing ability, just to see how accurately you are able to repeat the notes. If you are going to sing back notes, try and hear the notes in your head before you sing it back, make sure you stand up tall and take a deep breath so you are able to sing with more confidence. For grade 1, the examiner will play a chord that helps you to feel the key of the music. Then the examiner will play a phrase (a short handful of notes) and you're going to try to sing that phrase back just like an echo. This is going to happen three times. In other words, the examiner plays a phrase, then you sing it back, they play the second phrase, you sing it back, a third phrase is played and then you sing it back. Practice pitching and singing various notes on a piano before trying to sing back a few short phrases. 🔴 Subscribe for more videos just like this: / @musicmattersgb 🎵 Become a Music Matters Maestro: / @musicmattersgb 👕 Merch store: / @musicmattersgb 🕘 Timestamps 0:00 - Introduction to grade 1 aural tests 1:02 - Advice on singing 2:59 - How does this test work? 3:46 - Practice pitching notes 13:47 - An example of how to approach this test 17:44 - Practice tests 🎓 Grade 1 Aural Tests Course When it comes to music exams, candidates often prepare themselves well for the playing but are less sure when it comes to the Aural Tests.
