If someone was to tell you to connect this wire to ground, do you really know where it should connect? If you do then you are better then me. The problem is that Ground means nothing without proper clarification. Ground means a common point on an electrical circuit so depending on what you are working on at the time it can mean negative, Positive, a 0 volt point or even earth. This video explains why it is important to get a proper description of what is meant by ground.
