【八甲田山 登山】残雪期の八甲田山に挑む！雪でルートを外れ、何度も道迷いしながらの山行となりましたが、山頂近くでの絶景に報われました　2025年5月

Mt. Hakkoda [Odake] (Aomori City, Aomori Prefecture) Aomori Prefecture has two of the 100 famous mountains, Mt. Iwaki and Mt. Hakkoda. Our original plan was to climb Mt. Iwaki, which can be reached by car and ropeway to the summit. However, it rained on 5/25 (Sun). Then, on 5/26 (Mon), the ropeway was closed due to strong winds, so we went to Mt. Himekami. We had hoped to finally climb Mt. Iwaki on 5/27 (Tue), but the ropeway was closed on Tuesday and Wednesday. 😱 So, as usual, I don't do much advance research, but we decided to pull ourselves together and climb Mt. Hakkoda! However, climbing Mt. Hakkoda in the remaining snow season was tough for us, as it was our first experience of remaining snow season. 😰 This time, we challenged ourselves to climb Mt. Hakkoda using the route starting from the Sukayu parking lot. There was still snow at the trailhead of Sukayu, and the trailhead sign was buried in snow. The trail to Mt. Hakkoda was covered in snow and was either invisible or turned into a stream, making it hard to call it a trail. This was typical of the snow season. As I continued on, getting lost on the trail to Mt. Hakkoda, I came across the summer trail. From this point on, there was no need to worry about getting lost, but new difficulties arose, such as steep rocky climbs, fording rapids, and footing that was so strong I felt I could dig my way through. Mt. Hakkoda is a tough mountain after all. After walking through the wide snowy fields and overcoming steep rocky climbs, I finally reached the summit of Mt. Hakkoda! From the summit of Mt. Hakkoda, I could see the city of Aomori and Mutsu Bay! If the weather had been good, I would have been able to see Mt. Iwaki.
