V/Line N Class Passenger Trains at Colac - Victorian Transport
In this video we visit Colac, a large town in Victoria's Barwon South West region around 148km southwest of Melbourne. With a population of around 10,500 in 2021 it's the largest town between the regional cities of Geelong and Warrnambool along the Princess Highway. Colac is served by trains on V/Line's Warrnambool Line. Here we see some V/Line N Class locomotive-hauled trains at various locations around town, including the station. As there were several hours in-between trains I also used the opportunity to visit sites around town, and the nearby Twelve Apostles on the Great Ocean Road. The railway arrived in Colac on the 27th July 1887 and served as the terminus of the line until the 2nd July 1883 when the line was extended to Camperdown. Colac once served as the junction for the narrow-gauge Crowes Line which first opened in 1902 and closed in 1962. The Warrnambool Line was one of the last on the V/Line network to be served exclusively by N Class locomotive-hauled trains. However starting the 1st November 2024 Vlocity DMU's started running on the Warrnambool Line for the first time, beginning with the 10:13am service to Warrnambool, and the 3:15pm service to Melbourne on weekdays. On the 1st December 2024 a new timetable came into effect which saw all services on the Warrnambool Line swapped out with Vlocity trains, with the exceptions of the morning trains to Melbourne and the late-afternoon/evening services to Warrnambool which will still be operated with N Classes for now. This video was filmed in November 2024 when N Classes still predominately ran on the Warrnambool Line. Subscribe to ThebusofdoomFSX: https://www.youtube.com/user/Thebusof...
