Muitos ainda têm medo de Deus. Medo de serem punidos, rejeitados, condenados ao sofrimento eterno por simplesmente serem quem são. Isso acontece porque, ao longo da história, a religião, muitas vezes, foi usada como ferramenta de controle, vergonha e repressão. O ser humano criou a imagem de um Deus distante, tirânico, que vigia nossos passos esperando por um erro. Mas, essa não é a verdade. Deus não é um tirano cruel, Deus é Amor. E o Amor não condena, ele acolhe, liberta… o Amor cura! Mas, tenho que reconhecer também que a religião tem sido uma grande porta de entrada para a espiritualidade. Inclusive, foi a religião que me trouxe até aqui. Foi através dela que tive meus primeiros vislumbres do divino. Durante o último Retiro de Silêncio que ofereci na Índia, falei mais profundamente sobre isso. Pedi para a minha equipe disponibilizar esse trecho no nosso canal do YouTube. That happens because, throughout history, religion has often been used as a tool for control, shame, and repression. Human beings created the image of a distant, tyrannical God who watches our every move, waiting for a mistake. But that is not the truth. God is not a cruel tyrant—God is Love. And Love does not condemn. Love embraces, liberates... Love heals. Still, I must acknowledge that religion has been a great gateway to spirituality. In fact, religion was what brought me to where I am today. It was through religion that I had my first glimpses of the Divine. During the most recent Silent Retreat I held in India, I spoke more deeply about this. I asked my team to make this excerpt available on our YouTube channel.
