Pyridine can act as a Lewis base, attacking Lewis acids (BF3, SO3, AlCl3). Toward haloalkanes and acid halides, it behaves as a nucleophile, leading to alkylation and acylation reactions. Toward oxidants, it generates pyridine N-oxides.
