In 1986, Kang entered the Stuttgart Ballet as the company's first Asian dancer. In 1997, she was appointed a principal dancer, and her passion for ballet has captivated audiences worldwide. Now 48 years old, Kang is by far the oldest active ballerina. But she will continue to dance until she retires in 2016. She is called the 'iron butterfy,' and fittingly, she jumped into her duties as artistic director with steely resolve. She has been busy coaching the dancers, preparing for performances, etc. There aren't enough hours in a day for her, but she does her best as if each day is her last.
