Hymn: How Did the Savior Minister? Text Merrijane Rice 2019, music Jennette Jay Booth 2019

Clay Christiansen plays this hymn recently added to the 'Hymns for Home and Church' of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints: "How did the Savior minister? He served with gentle hands. And I can also use my hands, helping others when I can. I want to live as Jesus did and serve in loving ways. He showed how I can minister as a child in latter days." The organ sounds [registrations] are inspired by the complete text of the hymn in the hope that you might also find them inspiring. The notes are played as printed with no editing except for occasionally sustaining the bass line (in the pedals) and very rarely a note in the left hand. This approach is taken in the hope that it will be seen that even the most "pianistic" of hymns can be played on the more sacred sound of the organ with very little adaption. Christiansen's virtual pipe organ was built by R. M. Ballantyne Pipe Organs, Jurupa Valley, CA. Its sound sample set comes from the Aeolian-Skinner pipe organ in Northrop Auditorium, University of Minnesota as sampled and programmed by Charles Raasch and Jonathan Orwig of Evensongmusic.net.
