We Left the Resorts Behind & Found THIS Hidden Gem in Alabama

We're not usually the rustic RV park type — but Greensport RV Park in Ashville, Alabama completely changed our minds. Nestled on the shores of Neely Henry Lake, this family-owned gem surprised us at every turn. The gravel sites are no-frills, but Site 731 had a LAKEFRONT VIEW that stopped us cold. And then we learned the history — and our jaws dropped. Greensport was founded by Jacob Green, a Revolutionary War veteran who served beside George Washington at Valley Forge and settled this Alabama land in 1818-1820. The area became a bustling river port on the Coosa River, operating steamboats, a ferry, and river locks. Today, that old ferry sits submerged beneath Neely Henry Lake — the very lake you're camping next to. The Evans family, now in its 7th and 8th generation, still carries the legacy forward. If you're a full-timer, a family camper, or just looking for somewhere quiet with breathtaking lake views and a story worth knowing — Greensport might be your next stop. 0:00 Video set up 1:07 Intro 1:48 Greensport RV Park Arrival 5:45 Setting up Camp 6:55 Coffee and Conversations at Our Camp Site 10:26 Drone views 12:00 Dog Park Tour 15:09 Bath House and Pool Tour 17:15 More Sites 19:52 Cooking on the Blackstone 21:52 Hanging out on the Back Deck 22:15 Bike Ride Around the Park 26:18 General Store Tour 32:31 Petting Zoo 34:35 Pool 2 35:14 Campfire Conversation 40:28 Good Morning 40:45 Dog Park Review 41:30 Video Wrap up 44:45 Packing up 46:07 On the Road 47:02 Thanks for Watching ‪@HeartlandRVs1‬ For more information on Heartland RVs: https://heartlandrvs.com/?utm_source=...
