【全篇】『帝都の防空』1933年｜「フィルムは記録する」より ‘Film IS a Document: NFAJ Historic Film Portal’

本作品は、国立映画アーカイブが所蔵する文化・記録映画など映画作品を配信するWEBサイト「フィルムは記録する ―国立映画アーカイブ歴史映像ポータル―」https://filmisadocument.jp（制作：国立映画アーカイブ、国立情報学研究所）の公開作品です。 『帝都の防空』(テイトノボウクウ、1933年) 櫻映画製作所 23分、白黒、サイレント 協力=角田実 1933年8月9日から11日まで実施された大規模な関東防空演習に際して、神田区防護団第六分団が行った演習活動の記録。第六分団は現在の千代田区外神田の大部分に相当する。参考文献（『帝都之防護』）によれば、演習は東京、千葉、神奈川、埼玉を演習区域として太平洋方面からの空襲を想定して昼夜行われ、本作はその内容から8月9日の記録と考えられる。第六分団に警察、消防、医療機関に日本赤十字社派遣隊も加わった活動の様子が紹介されるが、演習には老若男女を問わず市民が参加し、上空には航空隊が飛び、実際の火を使った焼夷弾火災の鎮火訓練、煙幕を使ったガス弾への対応訓練まで行うなどその規模の大きさが画面から伝わる。この演習は信濃毎日新聞の主筆・桐生悠々が社説「関東防空大演習を嗤ふ」で批判したことでも知られる。なお、終結部の国旗のカットが繰り返される編集と染色の跡が確認されるエンド・タイトルについては、本来のものではない可能性がある。 「フィルムは記録する ―国立映画アーカイブ歴史映像ポータル―」では、1912年から1935年までの間に製作された作品を中心に20作品を新たに公開いたします。今回の公開では、昭和の最初の10年間に国内外で撮影された多様な作品に加え、明治時代の終焉を象徴する2つの葬送に関わるフィルムを公開します。国立映画アーカイブでは、今後も随時公開作品を増やしていく予定です。ぜひサイトをお訪ねください。 ---------------------------------------- This is one of the films featured on the website “Film IS a Document: NFAJ Historic Film Portal” (a joint project of the National Film Archive of Japan and the National Institute of Informatics) which streams a selection of titles from the NFAJ film collection with initial focus on cultural and documentary films. The fifth edition of this site presents 20 additional titles covering mainly the years from 1912 to 1935. The selection includes a variety of works shot both in Japan and abroad during the first decade of the Showa era, while films about two funerals that symbolize the end of the Meiji era.
