https://www.youtube.com/user/1MGMU/pl... Dementia in Pick's disease, 1995 Peak's disease is a serious brain disease in which its atrophy develops, that is, the destruction of structures. This is one of the varieties of age-related damage to the central nervous system, and it occurs in elderly patients. Peak's disease is largely similar to Alzheimer's disease, which is known to a fairly wide range of people who are not related to medicine, but it occurs 4 times more often. Who has this disease and what are the main risk factors The average age of onset of this disease is 55 years, however, it can develop at an earlier or later age. Women get sick more often than men. The main reason for the development of Pick's disease is still unknown, however, in one family cases of the disease are more common, that is, we can assume the presence of a family predisposition. Also, various traumatic brain injuries can accelerate and aggravate the course of this disease. The main signs of Peak's disease The duration of the disease lasts from 1 to 15 years. The debut of the disease may be inconspicuous for the patient himself and his relatives. However, over time, the signs of the disease gradually progress and patients very quickly lose their ability to work. The main manifestation of Peak's disease is a decrease in intelligence. The patient ceases to critically approach his condition, that is, he does not understand that he is sick and needs treatment. The patient has a decrease in memory, especially for recent events. At the same time, he remembers well what happened in him in the past, especially in his youth. Up to the point that they can come for a salary to work that they have not been working for a long time or visit a house that has been demolished long ago and the residents have left. Gradually, patients become apathetic, lethargic, do not want to do anything. However, with some forms of the disease, patients, on the contrary, become very active, try to talk with strangers, interfere in their work, and become tactless. Gradually, speech disturbance occurs, its pronounced impoverishment. The patient answers various questions with the same word, or they say the same thing. For example, he answers all questions with the word “curtain” or “high chair”. Various neurological problems are gradually progressing too - difficulties with fine motor skills, writing, and ordinary household chores. In the future, patients have unmotivated laughter, crying, they grimace or show indecent gestures. How Peak Patients Are Treated Peak's disease is an extremely severe mental illness, a complete cure for which, unfortunately, is impossible. At the first sign of illness, such people should begin examination with a psychiatrist and neurologist as soon as possible, but even with timely treatment, the life expectancy of such people is an average of 6-8 years. Despite the disappointing prognosis, the use of various drugs that improve the functioning of the brain and blood vessels can somewhat slow down the progression of the disease. Such patients are undergoing long-term treatment in a psychiatric hospital. #медфильм
