She was struck down in the 2000's by a herpes simplex virus that caused massive damage to her brain. She was left with a memory that spans just seven seconds, it's one of the worst cases of amnesia. She also meets a man who has the same memory handicap in the program. His memory duration may be even shorter than her but he rarely makes notes.
