The Trouble With Venice KVNC and a BAD LANDING AT X06

Venice airport (KVNC) is a very popular airport on the west coast of Florida for experienced aviators and students alike - it's beautiful, especially on a clear sunny day taking off toward the beach - it's one of those idyllic settings that makes someone fall in love with flying. But that's also it's biggest shortcoming, because KVNC is a CTAF airport - meaning it's un-towered - leaving ATC duties up to the pilots, which by the way is very common. But it can also lead to some dicey situations - as we approached KVNC, we realized there were just too many planes, so we diverted to Arcadia (X06) - apparently we weren't the only ones. Usually Arcadia is a very sleepy airport, I guess a lot of people like us had the same idea. Everything was fine, until yours truly botched the landing... ugh...
