Jean-Michel wisely chooses to stay back, but Benjamin decides to go for it. Around them, surfers emerge from the water bleeding. Total respect. The next day, they wake up at 4:30 a.m. to meet up with Balong and Domi. Together, they set off by boat towards a secret spot, without knowing what to expect. After twenty minutes out at sea, a gigantic wave erupts in front of them. Impossible to tame. In two attempts, they're wiped out. A real lesson in humility. They eventually settle for a more accessible left-hander in crystal-clear water. By 7:30 a.m., they're already on their second session. The island also holds its share of unexpected experiences. One evening, some locals suggest a bat hunt. The idea doesn't thrill them, but refusing isn't like them. A hunt also means tasting the prey. Against all odds, it's far from bad. Another improbable adventure to add to their memory. The next day, they explore a new spot called Salvation. The waves are too small, so they head to a wave located north of the island, accessible after a thirty-minute boat ride. A perfect right-hander, easy to catch, no wind, and almost no one in the water. A real gem. After this magical session, they have only one thing on their minds: returning to the hotel, packing their bags, and coming back to the same spot the next day. In the evening, they share a simple meal with the locals, accompanied by rum and laughter. The next morning, they explore yet another surf spot, but it's not what they're looking for. They immediately return to their favorite wave, still perfect, still empty, even more beautiful with a fresh coconut in hand. To conclude their adventure in Siargao, they want to do something meaningful for the people who welcomed them. They organize a lechon, the Filipino version of a barbecue. The entire community gathers. The evening is joyful, warm, filled with music and gratitude. This finale in the Philippines leaves a lasting impression. Siargao is paradise. A place that's hard to leave, a place where time slows down and where every encounter becomes a precious memory. Want to discover OuiSurf's Asian adventure for the first time or relive it?
