"La mia carne per la vita del mondo": L'Eucaristia in Gv 6, 51-58

#bellaprof #gospel #john Why doesn't John tell us about the institution of the Eucharist? In reality, the Johannine tradition tells it, but in a different way. Chapter 6 of the Gospel of John is all about the Eucharist, told in 3 distinct narrative and theological acts: 1) the sign of the loaves and fishes, 2) Jesus who reaches his disciples walking on the sea, 3) the great speech in Capernaum with the appeal to a final free decision. In fact, we thus discover that the fourth Gospel even offers us a distinct formula of consecration (Jn 6:51). Its characteristic is to use the term "flesh" instead of "body", in line with the entire Johannine approach, for which, "The Word (the Word of God that nourishes man and sustains him on the path of life) became flesh".
