Emu's All Live Pink Windmill Show S1E6 (1984) - FULL EPISODE

Redford's all excited about his mail order catalogue, but Grotbags is determined to drop in at the Pink Windmill, trash the place a bit, and make some sort of proclamation to show everyone who's boss. This episode, which features the extraordinary Ducks Dance, Too routine (from the Disney album Mousercise), was originally broadcast on Friday, 17th August, 1984. To be clear, this is the sixth episode of the series. Episodes one to four are nice and straightforward and all on my channel. But episode five didn't happen:    • EMU'S SHOW   (We're still looking for a good quality copy of that, incidentally - please do get in touch if you can help.) I'm reliably informed that, rather than the technical difficulties Rod blames, the actual problem was that the Central props department were on strike. So, having lost an episode, some desperate re-jigging had to be done. The song that was rehearsed for episode five was Kids; this was ditched altogether, or at least until the 1985 series. Boggle's Kingdom was shunted along by a week, meaning that what should have been episodes five and six became six and seven (cf. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FaYkWBuXw... ); what should have been episode seven was recycled into the next series, and I'll give more details when we come to that. But this all created another problem: the new episode seven Boggle had a song in it, and I think that means that Ducks Dance, Too was brought forward from the finale to accommodate that. I admit that's speculation, but it certainly doesn't make sense to me that the last episode in the series doesn't have a Pink Windmill Kids routine. Still with me? Other things to look out for include Rod and Emu visiting the dentist in what feels almost like a public information film, David Weston playing Robin Hood in Boggle's Kingdom, the sweetest piece to camera ever at 20:31, and Emu's Choice is the I Can Do Anything Better Than You Can/Physical medley we all know and love (originally by The Kids from Fame and Olivia Newton-John). In fact, on that subject, there's a scene between roughly 43:01 and 43:11 which features so much going on, but my favourite part of it has to be Hugh and Joe seemingly having some sort of private dance-off between just the two of them, if you look very closely. I think Joe wins. And while we're on the forensic analysis, what does Debbie say at 21:46? It sounds to me (and Rod, I think) like "Oh God, I've done it again" - quite a faux pas in 1984 children's telly. (In fairness, it could be "gone and done it again".) Keep an eye out at the beginning for a short Children's ITV link out of The Moomins and into Emu presented by none other than QI's very own Sandi Toksvig. She's in the role of Ethel from No 73, of course, and I think the whole cast were supposed to be on holiday for the month. One last thing: if you're watching these as I upload them, someone asked me to put these episodes up on Friday afternoons around the time they originally aired. I said no, because chances are I won't be at my computer on Friday afternoons around the time they originally aired. I was then introduced to the new YouTube 'Schedule' feature, which allows me to get everything ready (say) the night before, and set the vid to go live whenever I choose.
