Research and Treatment Development for SCA7
SCA7 or Spinocerebellar Ataxia 7 is a rare neuromuscular disease. The National Ataxia Foundation is proud to host this webinar presented by Dr. Colleen Stoyas on September 17th, 2023. In "Research and Treatment for SCA7", she gave an overview of how the disease is studied and give an overview of the current state of research and drug development. Her dissertation work was completed in the laboratory of Dr. Albert La Spada and characterized the molecular and cellular pathology of SCA7. She was a Postdoctoral Fellow in Musculoskeletal Biology at the Genomics Institute of the Novartis Research Foundation, and is currently a Medical Science Liaison at UCB Inc. Colleen has a wholistic view of disease biology that has been supported by her experience in basic research, multiple models of neurological disease, and supporting late-stage clinical programs in the pharmaceutical industry. About the Series: NAF is producing a series of monthly educational webinars that focus on one type of Ataxia at a time. Each month we will feature a different type. Clinical experts will join us to take a look at the causes and symptoms of the disease, the typical diagnostic journey for those affected, and what to expect for clinical care. Research experts will teach us how the disease is studied and give an overview of the current state of research and drug development.
