University of Foggia

The University of Foggia was founded in 1999 to meet the cultural and social needs of the Capitanata area, which had already become apparent in the early 1980s. It has since grown rapidly from a few thousand students into an academic community of over 14.000 enrolled students, in addition to 433 faculty members and 349 technical, administrative and library staff. The University positions itself as a leading institution, contributing to the expansion of higher education and supporting the cultural, social and economic development of the territory, through teaching, research and public engagement. From six original faculties, the University now comprises seven departments, covering areas such as agricultural sciences, engineering, economics, law, social sciences, humanities and medicine.
