Rural Life - Steam at Work Weekend 2024

The Rural Life Living Museum is a open air museum which contains many relics of the past which have been restored to working order by hard working volunteers and members. The Museum is set in over 10 acres of woodlands with building, barns and workshops spread around the site. There is a 2ft Narrow Gauge Railway which runs around the museum which adds to the brilliant atmosphere of the museum. Steam at Work weekend featured many visiting steam engines which were driving around the museum while it was operating. This video looks at most parts of the show we start of with the Full Size and Miniature, Traction Engines, Steam Rollers and Steam Wagons driving about the Museum throughout the day then followed by the Steam Parade. Many Thanks to all volunteers and members of the Rural Life and to all of the exhibitors for putting on a good show despite the weather conditions. It was a brilliant turn out this year for Steam Engines and I hope the museum finds the funds to stay open and do this event next year. The Museum currently faces closure due to the rising costs and a fall in foot traffic in the past few years they have currently got enough to last over winter but are looking for donations to invest in new projects, advertisement and events for next year.
