I have sought counsel from various avenues including TOI IHO and reached out to many people to find out who the footage kaitiaki may be. I have received consent for use of some of the footage in this video but despite my best efforts there were some that were not found. I do not claim kaitiakitanga or ownership over any of the archival footage. It is with humility and aroha that I weave in these taonga. If you are a kaitiaki of one of these and wish to kōrero about this video, you can get in touch with me at [email protected]. The photos included are of my whānau tūpuna. Their names are Mere Riripeti Whakaraurahi Porangi, George Down, Maria Ngarita Floyd Down, Emily Floyd, Matewai Wickham, Olga Delaney. LYRICS: I heard a voice rising up through the ground Buried and lonely screaming out loud I dug through the surface, uprooted myself And found, underneath my woman bound Buried for centuries, without a sound She says can you hear me? Can you feel, feel, feel me? Won't you sing out with me? Sing sing Waiata mai Sing sing Waiata mai Oh we stand, on the shoulders of our ancestors My tūpuna, their joys, wisdom and sorrows Ring through my bones like bells Like bells Can you hear them? Ka rongo koe? Ancient eyes of moons, full with pride In the liberation of our darkest night Healing our ancestral line The evolution of humankind Oh we stand, on the shoulders of our ancestors They lived, so we could see, feel and Be more than ever before Oh free now, they shine bright We now, honour their lives So I'll sing Sing from my bones So I'l sing Over their bones I'll sing, I'll sing Over their bones, bones Over their bones Ka waiata ki runga rā I a Kōiwi, kōiwi, kōiwi, kōiwi nei Ka waiata mai I ngā I a Kōiwi, kōiwi, kōiwi, kōiwi nei Ka rongo koe? Ki te waiata o te kōiwi Ka rongo koe? Ki te karanga o Papatūānuku Ka rongo koe? Ki ngā waiata a ō koutou nei tūpuna Kei te whakarongo rātou, kei te whakarongo tātou? Ka waiata tahi tātou Links: https://hine-link-tree.onepage.me/ HINE ON TOUR JULY + AUGUST: https://hine-link-tree.onepage.me/ka-...
