Mumbai's iconic Juhu Beach, known for its scenic coastline, vibrant atmosphere and celebrity neighbourhoods, is once again battling a wave of marine waste after heavy rains and high tides. During its ground report, The Free Press Journal spoke to tourists, foreign visitors and Mumbaikars to understand how the garbage-strewn beach has affected their experience. Several tourists said they were disappointed to find plastic bottles, food wrappers, thermocol and other waste scattered across the shoreline. Some even revealed they had planned to spend more time at Juhu but decided to leave early after witnessing the poor condition of the beach. Foreign visitors also expressed concern over the pollution, with some suggesting that plastic should be banned at the beach to discourage littering. While many acknowledged the BMC's ongoing clean-up efforts, several Mumbaikars stressed that keeping Juhu clean is not just the government's responsibility. They said citizens must stop littering and dispose of waste responsibly, adding that civic awareness is as important as regular beach clean-ups.
