Casting a Bronze Age Sword (Ewart Park Type) in Sand

In this video I demonstrate how to sand cast a Bronze Age sword based on the Ewart Park leaf-bladed type. The process includes: Preparing a two-part oil-bonded sand mould Creating a clean and level impression Forming a pouring cup and channel Removing the sword blank Closing and securing the mould Pouring molten bronze Revealing the casting The finished blade weights approximately 750 grams, consistent with historical examples. Although clay and stone moulds are more commonly associated with Bronze Age casting, sand casting remains a viable experimental method, and there is no clear evidence that it was not used historically. This is a practical exploration of prehistoric metallurgy and the craftsmanship behind Bronze Age weaponry.
