Bikeability cycle training - level 1 skills (L1b) lesson run-through
Here's a demonstration run with a child who's already got good skills, with a bike that is sensibly fitted out to optimise comfort and handling dynamics. In an actual lesson I'll sort out bike fitting issues and riding habits as much as possible. To solve the twitchy handling problems with "uphill XC racing imitation lightweights", I can refit them with high rise and sweep handlebar, and better quality, wider, grippier and heavier (gyroscopic precession of wheel mass) tyres. Some bikes have saddle and seatpost fittings that's forcing a downward tilt - to make it look and feel faster in a dangerous head down shoulder forward position. Replacing them will improve stopping, looking back and signalling. It isn't the best camera work, editing and commentary. Next time I'll let Jay do all the talking.
