Easy Scone Recipe Ingredients 500 mL (2 cups) all-purpose flour 60 mL (¼ cup) granulated sugar 6 ml (1¼ tsp) baking powder 2 mL (½ tsp) baking soda 2 mL (½ tsp) coarse salt 125 mL (½ cup) butter, cut up 125 mL (½ cup) buttermilk 1 large egg 250 mL (1 cup) currants 125 mL (½ cup) candied peel Egg wash for brushing Method: Preheat oven to 190ºC (375ºF). Whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, soda and salt. Rub in the butter until the mixture looks like wet sand. Whisk the egg into the buttermilk, and then pour this into the flour mixture. Mix together into dough, and form into a flat disk. Place the disk onto a baking sheet and cut into 8. Brush with an egg wash if desired. Bake 30 minutes.
