From House To Van — The Conversion Begins. And We Have A Lot To Do

This is where it start to gets real. Day one of the conversion. And here's where we start. First up, stripping out the previous conversion. Which sounds dramatic but is actually the most satisfying part of the whole process. Out with the old. In with... well, nothing yet!! But the potential is enormous. Then comes the planning. We tape out our floor plan directly onto the van floor. It's also where we start to reckon with one of the great challenges of any van conversion... working around what's already there. Windows in unexpected places. A roof light that has opinions about where things can go. The van has its own ideas, and we are negotiating with them. And then, the bed. Lee gets to work building a fixed double with a garage space underneath for storage. It's the first major milestone of the build. And by the end of day one, we have something that looks... if you squint...like the beginning of a home. We have a lot more to do. A lot. But every home starts somewhere.
