Bun Dawda says that he is in possession of a letter leaked by a whistleblower from the Office of the President. The letter accuses Barrow and senior government officials of disregarding expert advice on the country’s energy sector. According to the document, “If the President had taken Energy Ministry advice seriously at the time, we would not be in this energy mess today. Given the pressure from the World Bank to oust Karpower, the support of the NAWEC Board of Directors and the SOE Commission, and Gallo Saidy’s conviction that once Karpower is removed, Unique Energy and Sissoko Oil Enterprise would be brought in, he convinced the President that the HFO contract of Haji Bani Sissoko would be revived. The two NPP supporters would then ensure that the President receives sufficient kickbacks to support his 2026 re-election campaign.”
