AUSTRALIAN COUNTRY MUSIC HISTORY: DOCUMENTARY: BUDDY WILLIAMS ON TOUR CROSS THE TOP END 1979
Cub reporter John Singleton had a front page story in The Bulletin (Nov 1979) where he tells the story of this documentary, starting in Cairns to celebrate Buddy's 40th year in the recording industry, flying in light aircrafts to put on his hillbilly music shown on the islands of Crocker, Melville and Bathurst and communities across the top of Arnham Land . Singleton called the story 'A Happy Story About Aborigines' because at that very moment First Nations were being given self-governance for the first time. This is an historic documentary based on Australian country music and the legend that was Buddy Williams "The Yodelling Jackaroo'. Featuring Pixie Jenkins, Lawrie Minson, Kirk Steel and others, many of whom have had amazing careers and are still working at high levels of the music industry.
