Hundreds of children enrolled back to school in Wajir
As the country waits for the short rains with bated breath, arid and semi-arid counties are yet to get out of the woods, following a prolonged drought that saw more than 2.5 million heads of cattle succumb to the pangs of drought brought about by climate change. Wajir County saw thousands of school-going children abandon learning, with some moving with their families to look for water and pasture in distant regions. A program to enroll children back to school initiated by the Ministry of Education and stakeholders such as Save the Children, has seen thousands of children get back to school.
