Blue Peter Gets A Helping Hand From LSL's Princess
Hello & Welcome to Harnetty Railways In this program we are in race mode but not the type of race that we were expecting due to the fire risk caz of the lack of persistant wet weather to soak the ground. After the debacle from 3 weeks previous that made the national press & WCRC's 34067 Tangmere got a bad reputation for setting the cumbrian coast alight. Which unfortunately for LSL's 60532 Blue Peter was denied to a have a run along the entire length cumbrian coast line & was terminated at Maryport. Now 3 weeks later we see the A2 work Saphos Trains's 2nd Lakelander trip of the year albeit with diesel assistance by LSL's freshly repainted at Eastleigh class 47 47593 Galloway Princess in Intercity Executive livery. We start this video at Wigan North Western on the WCML as we see the train led by the A2 come round the corner accelerating away after coming off the slow line at Sprins Branch junction. We follow the train & just outside Preston we come in side by side as we come into the station. We eventually overtake the A2 as we got out of Preston 1st while the trip was picking the last lot passengers. We see the trip come through at Oxenholme Lake District note as you will see in this program every shot we got of the A2 preduced the chime whistle for everyshot thanks to his crew. We overtake the train for the last time on the WCML at Grayrigg while the A2 took on water prior to the climb to Shap. We end the WCML chase at Penrith North Lakes as we see the train coast by. An added bonus was just outside Carlisle as wee the stock arrive from the station prior to entering LSL's Carlisle Upperby depot for servicing. Thanks to a cock up from Network Rail signalling centre allowing a Scot Rail 156 unit to enter platform 1 blocking access to the platform in the process. We end this video while on the return run at Flimby south of Maryport as lessons were learnt after the last trip as the A2 faced heavy speed restrictions caz of the loading gauge on most of the route. We gambled on seeing the train through Flimby & it was a momentous decision as there was no speed restriction through the station as the train went by at speed to round off our day chasing The Lakelander trip. Thanks for the brief company at Carlisle of @_j_loco_. Hats off to Locomotive Services Group for their best efforts in ensuring a steam loco remained at the head of the train despite the difficult circumstances. Thanks for reading enjoy the film. #60532bluepeter #locomotiveservicesgroup #mainlinesteam #steamtrains
