Rather than treating circle walking as a purely meditative or stylized practice, this session breaks down how and why it works—from foot placement and circle size to gaze, hip engagement, and force transmission through the body. You’ll learn how proper stepping defines the circle itself, how intention shapes movement, and how circle walking builds coordination, strength, and usable body method that carries over into martial arts, Tai Chi, and everyday movement. 0:00 – 0:55 | Introduction 0:55 – 1:39 | Why It Matters 1:39 – 8:40 | Step-by-Step Tutorial 8:40 – 18:26 | Practice Tips 18:26 – 20:28 | Stylization Who Am I: “Student Always, Teacher Sometimes.” This mindset drives my approach to traditional Chinese martial arts. I have spent over 15 years training in Kung Fu and the internal fighting arts, beginning in Southern California with Praying Mantis Kung Fu and Yang Style Tai Chi, then sharpening my foundation in Seattle under Andrew T. Dale through intensive study of Chen Style Tai Chi and Bagua Zhang. In 2007, I relocated to Beijing, China, where I lived and trained for eight years under masters Zhang Wei Dong and Liu Zu Guang, forging real martial skill through disciplined daily practice, conditioning, and partner work. My training there focused heavily on Bagua Zhang, Shuai Jiao (Chinese Wrestling), Da Bei Quan, and the internal mechanics that make Kung Fu functional, powerful, and alive. I became the first foreigner awarded a Shuai Jiao Coach’s Certificate in China, competed in tournaments in China and internationally, and co-founded the Guang Wu Shuai Jiao Association to help carry forward authentic Chinese martial arts. My teaching emphasizes strength, structure, rooting, intent, and practical application—training the body and mind to move with clarity, resilience, and controlled force.
