What are advisory speed limits and how should you to react to them?, There are four main advisory speed limits; Outside schools with signs reading "Max speed 20 when lights show" Bends, with a warning signs for the bend and plate below  reading "Max speed 20" On the motorway gantry's When roads have recently been relaid and there are loose stones, signs will say "skid risk, max speed 20" Do you need to take note of these signs? Will you get fined for going over an 'advisory speed limit'? Will you fail your driving test for ignoring these signs?  Please be advised even though advisory speed limits are not a law, if you fail to take note of them and go over them you could still be protected in court if it was found you were driving too fast for the circumstances, which is discretionary, therefore it is ultimately down the to individual driver to assess the individual circumstances to decide if the advice should be followed or not.
